Meet Our Team

John J. Dugan received his doctorate from the University Of Washington Dental School in 1981.   In addition to honors programs throughout his training in periodontics, full mouth restorative rehabilitation training, and pedodontics, Dr. Dugan received additional hospital training at two different oral surgery and anesthesia centers.

Harborview Hospital in Seattle, Washington  provided multiple experiences in oral surgery, emergency, anesthesia and sedation training. John Peter Smith Hospital and Parkland Hospital in Texas provided additional oral surgery training with oral surgery residents and hospital staff for Dr. Dugan in his education. Dr. Dugan is a member of the AAID, the prestigeous orginization which recognizes implantoligy excellence.  (Dr. Dugan is certified in advanced cardiac lifesupport and CPR).

Cosmetic, implant placement and restorations, dentures and endodontics are among his areas of expertise.

Dr Dugan began working in the dental laboratory field while in his teens and brings a lifetime of love and experience in dentistry to share with our team. He enjoys mountain climbing, biking, stand up paddle boarding and diving among other sports activities.

Gene Lee earned his degree at U.C. Berkeley for undergraduate studies majoring in Integrative Biology. He attended NYU College of Dentistry. He completed his AEGD at Lutheran Medical Center (Maui Oral Health Center). After completing his AEGD he moved to the Big Island and worked at Hawaii Family Dental Center in Waikoloa. Later he moved to Fort Worth Texas to work at Archstone Dental Center.

As a general dentist Dr. Lee is passionate about all aspects of general dentistry for children and adults.

Dr. Lee was born and raised in Los Angeles. He moved around the country many times living everywhere from San Francisco to New York, Maui/Big Island to Fort Worth and more. He even went abroad, living in London for a period of time! Dr. Lee enjoys the outdoors and has a passion for technology.

Jessica Yeager earned her BS from University of Michigan, her DDS from New York University and her AEGD from Maui Oral Health Center via Lutheran Medical Center.

As a general dentist Dr. Yeager is passionate about all aspects of general dentistry for children and adults.

Dr. Yeager is originally from a small town in northern Michigan and has been gradually moving to warmer states ever since. After completing dental school she was lucky enough to have the opportunity to relocate to Maui for her dental residency. After completing her residency Dr. Yeager lived on the Big Island for one year before briefly living and working in Texas. After 9 short months in Texas she made the decision to move back to Maui permanently. Dr. Yeager enjoys snorkeling, scuba diving, hiking, paddle boarding, photography, traveling, and cooking in her free time.

Shelbi Barroga

Shelbi Barroga was born and raised on Maui. She graduated from the University of Hawaii Maui College in 2017 with an Associate’s Degree of Science in Dental Hygiene. Prior to studying hygiene, Shelbi received her Certificate of Completion from the UHMC Dental Assisting Program in 2013. She gained experience as a dental assistant working in Pediatric and General Dentistry.

Shelbi enjoys working with patients building long term relationships, providing optimal care and bringing a positive experience during their hygiene visits. Most importantly, she appreciates educating patients to help better their oral health.

During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her daughter, boyfriend, and family.

Starlyne Kuaana

Starlyne Kuaana graduated from the University of Hawaii Maui College in 2021 with her Associate in Science in Dental Hygiene as an honors graduate.

Prior to being a dental hygienist, Star worked as a dental assistant for five years in General Dentistry. She enjoys interacting with her patients, ensuring that they have a comfortable experience, and providing them with the information that they need to make decisions about their oral health.

Star is dedicated to serving our community and volunteers her time with Sea Of Smiles and Give Kids A Smile to provide disadvantaged children in our communities with dental services. In her free time she enjoys gardening, reading, and spending time with her husband and pets.
